Private John Harris

John Harris was too young at the war's outset to enlist. However, when he reached the age of eighteen, he joined his friends who were serving in the Fifth Iowa Cavalry, enlisting in the regiment on on February 5, 1864. He served for the duration of the war, mustering out with the rest of the regiment on August 11, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee.
