Private William DoughertyFifth Iowa Volunteer Cavalry
William Dougherty was a twenty-seven year old resident of Omaha, Nebraska when he enlisted in Company B of the Fifth Iowa Cavalry. Unfortunately, the Official Roster doesn't include any details of his service. He faithfully remained with his comrades through the end of the war, mustering out with the rest of the regiment on August 11, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee. The Fifth Iowa Cavalry site is deeply indebted to Michael Breeling for sharing the civil war image of Dougherty, for which he maintains the copyright.
